How do I handle call waiting on the Poly Edge E320 or E400?
What You Are Experiencing
You are on an active call and hear a call waiting tone, or an incoming call notification appears on screen. You want to answer the new call without disconnecting the current one.
Answering a Waiting Call
- When the call waiting tone sounds and the Incoming Call screen appears, tap the Answer soft key.
- Your current call is automatically placed on hold.
- You are now connected to the new caller.
- To switch back to the first call, tap the held call entry on screen and press the Resume soft key.
Placing the New Caller on Hold
- After answering the waiting call, press the Hold key (key 9) to place them on hold.
- Both callers are now on hold. Tap the appropriate line key on screen to resume either call.
TIP: If you do not want to be interrupted by call waiting during an important call,
press the DND softkey before the call begins.
This prevents additional incoming calls from ringing through while you are connected.
NOTE: The E400 supports up to 32 lines on the main display and up to 44 total with the secondary display. Each active or held call occupies a line key. You can visually track all calls from the home screen.
NOTE: The E320 has a single display with line keys. With call waiting, both the active and held calls appear as separate entries on the screen. Tap the line to resume it.
Contact us if:
You hear call waiting tones but cannot see the incoming call on screen.
Answering the waiting call disconnects your current call instead of holding it.
You need call waiting disabled permanently on your line.
