How can I reduce/improve my Ping level?

Ping is like the beat in a song. When the beat is steady and quick, the music flows smoothly, and everyone can dance in sync. But if the beat is slow or uneven, it messes up the rhythm, and it's hard to keep up with the music.

In the same way, ping is the time it takes for a signal to travel from your device to a server and back. When the ping is low (like a steady beat), everything happens in real-time, making online gaming, video calls, and VoIP calls smooth and lag-free. But if the ping is high (like an uneven beat), it causes delays, making the experience choppy and frustrating.

A Ping of 20ms or lower is excellent for real-time applications, while 20-50ms is average. Anything above 50ms may cause noticeable delays.

Connect Directly: If using Wi-Fi, try switching to a wired connection via Ethernet, as this can significantly reduce ping by providing a more stable connection.

Close Applications: Close any background apps, programs or devices that are using internet bandwidth, such as file downloads, streaming services, or cloud backups. These can increase ping by consuming bandwidth and creating network congestion.

Reduce Congestion: Reduce the number of devices using your internet or do high-bandwidth activities when there’s less activity in your home. Speed can be impacted by several users, lots of devices, heavy gaming, streaming TV, video calls and large files

Choose a Closer Gaming Server: When you’re playing a video game and it allows you to select a server, choose one closer to your home. The further the server is from your home, the higher the ping, the poorer the gaming experience.

Restart Your Modem or Router: Restart your modem, gateway, or WiFi router by unplugging it for about 30 seconds and then turning it back on. This can resolve temporary network issues or reset connections with WOW!

Limit Wireless Interference: When using Wi-Fi, reduce interference by placing your router in a central location and away from electronic devices or thick walls. You could also try switching to a different Wi-Fi channel or upgrading your internet package.

Upgrade Your Speed: Your type of internet use or level of activity in your home may need a higher speed. Contact us to upgrade your speed.
