What do I need to know about my WOW! Phone installation appointment?

Important: You or an authorized adult (18 or older) must be present during the installation process.

  1. Home Security Systems: If you have a home security system, notify your security company of the scheduled installation date and time for your WOW! Phone service. This allows your alarm company to test your alarm system while our technician is at your home. Our phone service should work with most home alarm systems using tone dialing and standard data communications protocols.

  2. Phone Service Continuity: If you are transferring a phone number from your current provider to WOW! do not contact your current phone provider to disconnect your service until after WOW! has completed your phone installation.

  3. Technician Arrival: A technician will arrive at any time within your scheduled installation window. Please plan for the installation to last at least two hours from when the technician arrives.

  4. Modem Installation: The technician will provide you with an advanced modem. Ensure the modem is plugged into an electrical outlet that cannot be turned off using a light switch to avoid service interruptions.

  5. Power Outage Note: WOW! Phone service, including access to 911, is not available during a power outage. If you would like to purchase an 8-hour or 24-hour battery backup from WOW! to keep your advanced modem powered on for phone services only during a power outage, please contact us to order one.
