I have a question maybe you can
help with. I bought a 24oz. unopened bottle of Vernors at a local flea
market. The person that sold it to me said the 65 number on the bottom
of the bottle was the year it was made. After getting it home I noticed
the cap said 100th Anniversary. How long has Vernors been around and do
you think the bottle was made in 1965? Thanks for any assistance you can
provide. ANSWER:
All the information you received as
accurate. Vernor's began in 1866. The 100th anniversary cap you have is
on a 1965 bottle, which is possible because Vernor's refilled bottles
that were returned for deposit. There's more history on the club website
at www.wowway.com/~vernors/index.html
QUESTION: I remember going to see a soda pop factory in Detroit and I could see the bottling process through huge windows. Was that Vernor's?
ANSWER: Yes. You remember the Vernor's plant at 4501 Woodward Avenue, just north of the Whitney Restaurant in Wayne State University territory. This was the "new" plant, opened in 1954. Vernor's moved to that location when the city wanted their riverfront property. Large windows faced Woodward and you could see the bottling process without needing to go inside the building.
QUESTION: I was wondering if you had any additional information about the Vernors club. My Father used to do Graphic Art advertising for Vernors in the 70's and I was interested in passing the info to him regarding this club. ANSWER: You're in the right place, of course! Find out more about the club by pressing the "Join The Club" button on the left. We'd love to have him as a member. We could learn from him, too!
QUESTION: Can anyone place a classified ad on your web site? ANSWER: Only Vernor's Ginger Ale Collector Club members can place a classified ad. However, it's very easy to join. Just go to our "Join The Club" page.

The Vernor's Ginger Ale Collectors Club is not affiliated with Cadbury-Schweppes, Dr. Pepper, or any local bottlers of the Vernors brand. The Vernors brand name is owned by Cadbury-Schweppes. We just happen to love the brand! The intent of this web site is to honor Vernors, its history, and the wonderful mark the brand has left on America and Canada through its advertising and memorabilia. |
