Data BackupMost of my clients hate to backup their computers. We all know we should make backups, but we never quite find the time to do it. This kind of apathy can quickly come back to hurt us, when a hard drive suddenly fails, or Windows decides its time to crash. Many times before you realize you have a problem, the damage is already done.To avoid being caught in a bad situation, its important to create and maintain at least three to four complete backup sets of your entire hard drive(s). At the very least you should backup your: documents, address books, data bases, music files and digital photos. Applications and operating systems can always be reloaded from the distribution CD's, but data can be lost forever when a hard drive crashes. There are many reasons why people fail to backup. They might lack the necessary hardware, the right software, the time, or the confidence, to do it correctly. We have portable hard drives, servers, CD/RW and DVD/RW burners we can connect to your PC to create backups right in your own home or business. After backing up your PC, we will give you a complete set of CD's, or DVD's for you to keep in a safe place. We can also store a second backup set at our site to guard against:: your site falling victim to fire, floods, or other unexpected disasters destroying your data. We can also recommend the best hardware and software, so that you can make your own backups quickly and reliably. We can help you by custom designing a backup system that tailored to your specific needs. New low-cost backup software on the market today and large fast external USB 2.0 hard drives and network drives, can help eliminate the tedium of backing up your computer on a regular basis. We like external hard drives because they are: inexpensive, fast and reliable. They also do not require you to constantly remove and replace backup CD, or DVD media while you are backing up. When unplugged and stored in a safe place, an external hard drive is completely protected from Internet based hack attacks. BTW: If you have an older PC sitting around unused (a Pentium II or III class machine is fine). We can convert it into a network attached storage server, or NAS server for short. While that may sound like a mouthful, its really very simple. Your old computer will show up on your network as a networked hard drive. You simply copy or backup anything you want to archive to this new network share and the job is done. Its also very fast and easy to use and gives new purpose to an older PC that would normally end up in a closet, or a landfill. The NAS systems we recommend run a form of the Linux operating system, which is unaffected by Windows malware and Internet exploits. Always keep in mind, while you can always replace your computer, you can never replace your lost data. If you have not backed up your data lately, please don't delay any longer. Be sure to turn it off and unplug it from your system when not in use. This will prevent a virus infection that enters your computer from damaging your backup drive data.
