Thought works as a weaving of images and words.  The mind makes associations between images and ideas.  This is the way Freud believed dreaming works.  Freud researched this idea scientifically through psychoanalysis.  He studied the way repressed thoughts of the sexual human body manifested in his patients' dreams.
