An old man looks out onto the world.
He watches the playground rides.

He sees the bright lights and children.

He sees youth riding past:  sparkling, giggly, unnoticing and uncaring.

He is amazed by the world just as he is close to leaving it.

He hadn't realized when he bought his ticket that there would be no refund.  He doesn't realize it now either since the sign is on the outside of the window and he is looking out from the inside.
