El Viaje - Madrid / El Rastro - 21 September

Returning from Segovia on Sunday morning, we said "adios" to our PepeCar A Class, returning it to its underground home. We found ourselves with a completely unstructured day, although we knew we wanted to try to shop at "El Rastro", a gigantic outdoor flea market. At the Acapulco, we met Mehrdad, a chemist and teacher by trade, an Iranian by heritage, and a Chilean by residence. He seemed to be an agreeable sort, and spoke perfect English. He also knew a little bit about Madrid, and had been to El Rastro before. We ended up spending most of the day in his warm company and found we had much in common. We shopped El Rastro (don't go if crowds aren't your thing) and had a great tapas and Sangria meal at a little restaurant near the hostal. Have to get to sleep early - tomorrow we catch the Talgo to Granada at 0800.
