El Viaje - Costa del Sol / Almunecar - 24 September |

After a comfortable ride in a really nice tour bus through the Sierra Nevadas,
with some spectacular scenery, we arrived in Almunecar. We walked off in the general direction of the Mediterranean and soon found the beach. We
also met an English gentleman named Glenn and had a lengthy chat with him and his wife. As you can see from the photo, this is a great beach, and
the weather was perfect. We were soon relaxing on the beach. Below is a really great picture of my foot. Yeah - the beaches down here are topless. Nobody gives it a second thought. I
was merely documenting the fact that the beach is made of mostly rocks, when this sunworshipping lady jumped into the frame.
After spending most of the previous day exploring the Alhambra, we thought we'd enjoy a day of relaxation. Sitting in a
little coffee shop in the late afternoon, we had a long conversation with the proprietor. We had been thinking of heading for Nerja,
which was quite popular. He suggested that we would enjoy one of the smaller resort cities on the Costa del Sol, either Salobrena or
Almunecar. He drew a simple map for us, and told us about getting there. While we were talking, a couple of young people stopped by for a snack.
They turned out to be Australian, and told us that they were travelling around the world - worldwide walkabout! They were heading to the US next
and we shared some suggestions about places they planned to visit. Later, Madame Landazuri also suggested Almunecar. The
next morning we were off for the bus station.
