A Digital Adapter is a one-way video device that allows an analog TV to display channels that have been transmitted to the home in a digital format. The Digital Adapter has a "Cable In" and "To TV" output only. Your TV watching experience should be the same on that TV as it is today. The Digital Adapter does not support any advanced video services such as: HD channels, the Interactive Program Guide, or OnDemand programming, nor does it offer additional channels available with Digital TV with Signature Cable service. The Digital Adapter comes with an easy to use remote control and is much smaller than current receiver boxes.

If your TV currently has WOW! digital equipment (a WOW! Standard Digital Receiver, HD Receiver, DVR, HD DVR or authorized Cable Card), you do not need a Digital Adapter for that TV. You will need a Digital Adapter to receive the Basic Cable channel lineup on your TV if:

• Your TV does not currently have WOW! digital equipment (the coaxial cable goes directly from the wall to the TV).
• Your TV does not have a compatible built-in digital tuner.

The FCC requires new TVs to have built-in tuners. If you have a TV with a built-in North American cable ready digital tuner, you will not need a Digital Adapter in order to continue to enjoy your WOW! Basic Cable lineup.

You should be able to determine if your TV has a built-in digital tuner by following these steps:

• Refer to your TV owner's manual to determine if your TV has a built-in digital tuner. If there is no information in the owner's manual, the TV probably does not have a digital tuner. Another way to determine if your TV has a digital tuner is to look at the TV remote control. If the remote has a dot (.) or a dash (-) button, the TV probably does have a digital tuner, as those buttons are often used in programming the tuning of a digital tuner TV.
• Connect the coaxial cable directly from your cable outlet to your television. There should not be any other pieces of equipment connected between the cable wall outlet and the television (Digital Adapter, VCR, DVD player, etc.).
  • Customers in Michigan, Ohio and Illinois: Use the remote that came with your TV to tune your TV to Channel 118-1 or 118.1, depending on whether you have a dot or dash on your remote control. If you see a box with video playing on the in the right portion of your screen, you will not need a Digital Adapter on that TV. Please allow up to two minutes for video to appear.
  • Customers in Evansville: Use the remote that came with your TV to tune your TV to Channel 108-104 or 108.104, depending on whether you have a dot or a dash on your remote control. If you can view this channel, you will not need a Digital Adapter on that TV.
• If your TV does not allow you to tune to the channel, you may need to run a channel scan. To rescan your channels:
  • Select ‘Menu' on your TV remote
  • Select the Auto Program, Auto Tune, or Auto Scan Option
  • A scan could take as long as 45 minutes, depending on your TV set
  • Once the process is complete, all channels should be fully restored

To record a program using your Digital Adapter and VCR:

1. Set your VCR to record channel 3 (4 in Cleveland) for the time the program is airing.
2. Tune the Digital Adapter to the channel you want to record.

The VCR can only record the channel that your Digital Adapter is tuned to.  To record different programs at different times, you will need to change the channel on your Digital Adapter.

If your TV has Picture-in-Picture (PIP) built-in, you should still be able to use the PIP function. 

In order to use this feature your TV must have at least 2 coax inputs.

If you were using PIP prior to connecting your WOW! Digital Adapter by using two TV inputs, connect the Adapter to one of the TV inputs by following these steps:

1. Disconnect one of the coax cables from the TV.
2. Plug that coax cable into the Cable IN input on the back of the Digital Adapter.
3. Plug another coax cable from the TV Out output on the Adapter to the input on the TV.

If you were not using PIP prior to connecting your WOW! Digital Adapter, or are having problems with PIP:

1. Connect the first coax cable from the wall outlet to the input on the splitter.
2. Connect the second coax cable from one of the outputs on the splitter to one of the inputs on the TV. These inputs are usually labeled "Cable In 1 and 2" or "RF In 1 and 2".
3. Connect the third coax cable from the other output on the splitter to the input on the Digital Adapter.
4. Connect the fourth coax cable from the output on the Digital Adapter to the other input on the TV. (See diagram below.)
   
5. Once properly connected, follow your TV manufacturer's instructions to activate and use the PIP feature.

Please note:  One of your PIP inputs will receive the Limited Basic Cable lineup only.

TVs that have Cable CARDS installed do not need WOW! equipment in order to receive WOW! Cable service.

TVs using one of these retail converter boxes are able to receive over the air TV signals, and do not receive WOW! Cable channels. . If your TV is connected to WOW! co-axial cable, you need to have a WOW! Digital Adapter installed to receive WOW! Cable channels on that TV.

We understand that the experience may be different from what you are used to. Unfortunately, there may be a slight delay when you are changing channels as the Adapter works to tune from one digital signal to the next.

If your remote loses its programmed codes, try replacing the batteries with high quality Alkaline batteries. When replacing the batteries, try not to push any buttons, and the codes should remain intact.

The converter box is the small cable box that sits on or near your television and tunes your television to the appropriate channel.

Yes, you will need a converter box on all TV's to receive WOW! Basic or Digital Cable. These boxes can be Digital Adapters, standard digital receivers, HD receivers, DVRs or HD DVR's. Customers may have cable cards in lieu of converter boxes if they have digital ready televisions or other digital cable ready devices. If you would like premium movie channels such as HBO or Showtime, or you would like to be able to watch and order WOW! OnDemand or Pay-Per-View, you will need a digital receiver or DVR and digital cable service.Converter boxes are not available with Basic Cable. If youwould likepremium movie channels such as HBO or Showtime, or you would like to be able to watch and order WOW! To connect your cable to a VCR and your TV make sure the cable that is coming from the wall is connected to the cable box on the connector labeled INPUT. The connector on the cable box labeled OUTPUT will go to the INPUT on the VCR. The OUTPUT connector on the VCR will go to the cable connection CABLE/ANT on the TV.

Check that your coaxial cable, power, and VCR/DVD connections are tight. Digital cable is a type of cable transmission that offers better picture and sound quality, more channels and an on-screen guide than traditional analog (basic) cable.  Because digital channels are more highly compressed than analog channels more channels can be broadcast in the same space.  To receive digital cable channels a digital receiver is required.

Analog television service is the traditional method of transmitting TV signals and has been the standard broadcast technology since the inception of television.

Analog-digital simulcasting means that analog channels are duplicated as digital subchannels. converters are programmed to use the digital subchannel instead of the analog. WOW! Limited Basic channels are the only channels that are available in analog.

You can alsouse the on-screen program guide to set parental controls, set your Pay-Per-View PIN or determine your favorite channels.

Press GUIDE on your digital cable remote control and then use the arrow buttons and the SEL buttons to navigate through the guide and make selections. The A, B and C buttons on the remote control change the type of information presented on the guide.

The On-Screen Program Guide is only available to customers with Digital TV with Basic Cable or Digital TV with Signature Cable and who have a digital receiver or DVR connected to their TV's. Customers with Digital Adapters will not have access to the On-Screen Program Guide.

Because you lease your converter and remote control from WOW!, you are responsible for the equipment. If you want to receive WOW! digital cable programming, OnDemand and the On-Screen Program Guide on a specific television, you will need a digital receiver or DVR for that TV. A Digital Adapter will let you receive the channels you receive today in a digital format, but does not offer access to OnDemand or the On-Screen Program guide. Customers can still receive Limited Basic programming on any televisions that are directly connected to WOW! Cable and do not have WOW! Yes, you can block channels or programs using Parental Controls. Press SETTINGS on your WOW! Digital Cable remote control and then enter the PIN to change or adjust parental controls. If you have never used parental controls before, the PIN is set to a default number of 3215.

Yes, you can get a DVR for all the TV sets in your home.

You can pause up to 1 hour on the main screen and at the same time pause up to 1 hour on the PIP screen.

It depends on whether the program is a live or a recorded program. You can rewind a recorded program back to the beginning of the recording. With live programs you can rewind back to the point at which you started watching that channel but not more than an hour. Each time you change channels, a new copy is stored to the built-in recorder. If you have been watching the same channel for 15 minutes, you can rewind for 15 minutes. If you change channels a new buffer is created starting from the point you changed the channel.

No. If you have been tuned to the program since the beginning, just press Record from any point in the program and your DVR will record the entire program.

From live TV:
Press the Record button on the remote. The Confirm Recording screen will appear. Press Select to accept the recording option presented or press the A button for other options.

From the Programming Guide:
Press the guide button to bring up the Program Guide. Navigate to the program you would like to record. Press the Record button on the remote. The Confirm Recording screen will appear. Press Select to accept the recording option presented or press the A button for other options.

From a manual setting (channel, time and date):
Press the List key to display the Recorded List screen. Press the B button on the remote to display the Preferences screen. From the Preferences screen, select Schedule a New Manual Recording. Highlight and select the Channel in the first column. Scroll to the Day and specify when you want to record the program. Scroll to the Start and Stop times and specify the recording times. Scroll to the Save column and speciffy how long you want to save the recording. Once the recording has been set, it will now appear in your Scheduled Recordings List as a Manual Recording.

Preferences:
The Preferences screen allows you to change several default settings for your recordings or to set a manual recording (see How do I record a program?). change the save time for future recordings (1, 2, 7, 14 days or until erased) schedule a manual recording (see How do I record a program?) change the start/end times for future recordings (1, 2, 3, 5 minutes or on-time) sort the recorded list alphabetically or by time recorded The Preferences screen is accessed from the Recorded Liist screen. This can be accessed by pressing the List button on the remote. Once on the Recorded List screen press the B button to bring up the Preferences screen.
There are four different preferences that can be set when using the DVR function.

• Schedule a Manual Recording (see How do I record a program?).
• Change the Start/End times for future recordings
• Sort the Recorded List
• Change the Save time for future recordings

  Any change you make to these settings will become the new default settings (Except Schedule a Manual recording)
  
  Change Start/End Times for Future Recordings
  When you select the Change the Start/End Times for Future Recordings preference, the edit screen will display.
  You have the choice of how many minutes before and after a program you want to begin or end recording. This option sets the default values for all future recordings.
  For example, if you set the time to 2 minutes, all recordings will start 2 minutes before the actual program start time and stop recording 2 minutes after the program stop time.
  Once set all programs will be recorded using these options unless you change an individual program using the Recorded Programs Options, Change Save Time option.
  
  Sort the Recorded List Alphabetically or by Time
  You can change how the Recorded List displays the programs using this option. You can display the list either by time or by title (alphabetically).
  Pressing the Select key toggles between the two choices.
  Change the Save Time for Future Recordings
  This option allows you to the default save time for all recorded programs. The choices include 1, 2, 7, 14 days, or until erased.
  Once set all programs will be recorded using these options unless you change an individual program using the Recorded Options List, Change Save Time option.

Programming ordered from On Demand cannot be recorded with a DVR.  However, once ordered, the program will be available for at least 24 hours so you can watch at your convenience by using the stop, fast forward and rewind buttons.

Pay-Per-View programs can be recorded with a DVR but recordings cannot be scheduled in advance.  To record a PPV event, you first must purchase the event and wait for it to begin playing.  Then press RECORD to begin recoding the program.

From the LIST screen, press A to access your scheduled recordings.  You will see a list of all recordings that are currently scheduled.  If you would like to modify a recording (change start/end times, frequency of the recording or delete the recording) highlight the recording and press SELECT.  Then press B to make changes.

You can also verify that a program is set to record through the on-screen program guide.  Press GUIDE and use the arrow buttons to scroll to the program.  Programs scheduled to record will be highlighted in red and REC will appear in the program information in the upper left side of the screen.

No. If you are recording two live programs at the same time and attempt to change channels a warning message will appear warning you that you must stop recording that program in order to proceed. You can record two live programs and watch a pre-recorded program at the same time.

The DVR cannot determine if a live program is going over the initial time slot. If there is the chance that the event may run long, you may extend the stop time when you set up the recording in the Confirm Recording screen.

No, the recording will automatically stop based on the program run times you specified on the recording confirmation screen.

No, you can only playback a single recording at one time.

No.  You can only watch programs on the DVR on which it was recorded.

For regular analog and digital channels up to 45 hours can be recorded, depending upon the type of programming. When using the HD-DVR up to 18 to 20 hours of HD programming may be recorded and up to 90 hours of analog programming depending on the format and data rate of the programming source.

You may check the recording space used from the Preferences menu of your DVR. You can access the Preferences screen by pressing the B button on your remote. Scroll to the Recording space used line to check percentage of space used.

Press the List button to bring up the Recorded List screen. Use the Move Up or Move Down arrows to highlight the recording you wish to erase. Press the Select button and the Recorded Program Options screen will appear. Press the Move Down button twice until Erase is highlighted and press Select. Press Yes, Erase (A button).

Yes. The advantage of WOW's offering is that you only need one piece of equipment to enjoy both HD programming as well as the functions offered by a DVR.

No. You can use the front panel of the Explorer 8000 to schedule a recording from the Program Guide or press the List button to access your recordings to play them back.

Yes. If you block programs by channel or rating in General Settings, those settings are carried over to DVR recordings. For example, if you decide to block all of the R rated programs in General Settings, the R rated programs will still be recorded, but you cannot play them back until you enter the Parental Control PIN.

The recordings that were saved prior to the power loss are preserved, except, of course, those recordings that were automatically deleted because their Save Time was reached. Future recording schedules are also preserved. You will only miss the recordings that were scheduled to be made while the power was out.

There is no way to recover a recording that has been erased from the Recorded List screen.

The remote control must be in the Cable mode to use any of the DVR features. This includes the picture in picture (PIP) features.

To use the PIP feature you must be on a full screen mode (not in the Program Guide or Menu screen) and the remote must be in the Cable mode. To turn the PIP feature on or off simply push the On/Off button in the lower left corner of your remote control.

• To Swap Screens between the small PIP screen and the full screen, press the Swap button in the PIP area of the remote control. Note: You must be in the full screen to start a recording from PIP.
• To change channels in the PIP screen use the + or - keys in the PIP area of the remote control.
• To move the location of the PIP screen on television press the Move button in the PIP area of the remote control

That is no problem. The picture in picture (PIP) feature is provided by the DVR not the television set. The dual tuners in the DVR make it possible to utilize the PIP feature.

Yes, but you must swap it to the main screen first. After pressing Record and confirming the recording, you can swap it back to the PIP screen. The program will continue to be recorded even if you close the PIP screen.

No. The DVR will continue to record the program even if you turn off the PIP feature.

Yes, but you must swap it to the main screen first. For example, you can pause the main screen and swap it to the PIP - it will remain paused in PIP.

High Definition Television is a type of digital television that uses extremely high-resolution imagery with enhanced audio (such as Dolby Digital) to provide a movie-theater like viewing experience. The number of horizontal lines (made of pixels) displayed on the TV screen determines the TV resolution. High-definition TVs have 720 horizontal lines or more, as compared to traditional analog televisions, which have 480 horizontal lines. There is also a difference in the screen format (or aspect ratio) that gives high-definition TVs the ability to display a wide screen format (or 16:9 aspect ratio) while traditional TVs utilize a 4:3 aspect ratio. High-definition TVs can be purchased at local electronics stores and look similar to traditional analog televisions, but provide a picture that is six times sharper than an analog TV set.

DTV (or Digital Television) is a type of television signal. HDTV (High Definition Television) is the highest quality of digital signals, offering better resolution and sound than Standard Definition TV (SDTV) signals. Channels and programs broadcast in SD signals can be watched on any television if you have one of our digital receivers. Programs and channels broadcast in HD can be watched if you have an HDTV television and an HD receiver.

HDTV provides pictures with several times the clarity of DVDs and over 5 times the resolution of a regular television picture. HDTV is the largest leap in TV technology since color TV replaced black and white.

Color: HDTV provides vivid color, including a wide range of hues without any bleeding at the edges of the image.

Clarity/Detail: HDTV images are as detailed as a high-resolution photograph.It is like looking through a window. When watching a TV program in HD, you will be amazed at the sharpness of the picture.You can even pick up the specks of different colors in an actor's eyes, or see individual sweat drops on a football player--details you could never see through regular television.

Wide-screen: HDTV allows you to view content in a 16:9 wide-screen format, the same format usedin movie theatres.Current TVs use a4:3 image, which cutspictures off becauseit forces a wide image into a narrow space.

Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound: All HDTV programming can provide 5.1 channel Dolby Digital Surround Sound--just like true theatre sound.

If you have an HD television set with a compatible built-in digital tuner, you can continue to view your local broadcast channels in HD without any additional WOW! equipment. If you do not have an HDTV set with a built-in digital tuner, you need to lease a WOW! HD Receiver in order to receive HD channels, including your local broadcast channels.

Yes. HDTV allows you to experience more of the TV picture with a wider viewing area, life-like detailed picture quality and Dolby surround sound.

A traditional analog television is not capable of displaying an HDTV signal. To receive HD service from WOW!, you will need to subscribe toour Digital TV with Basic Cable or Digital TV with Signature Cable service.

These are the component video cables. It's important that the Y cable on the HDTV is connected to Y on the HD receiver, Pb to Pb and Pr to Pr. The Y output on the HDTV and the receiver is a green jack, the Pb is a blue jack and Pr is a red jack.

DVI (Digital Visual Interface): an all digital link between a video/audio source such as an HDTV receiver and a display device such as an HDTV. The DVI link provides an uncompressed digital stream at rates up to 5 Gbps between the two devices. The DVI link does not contain audio, so audio is still needed to be connected from the receiver to the HDTV or home theater system. One advantage of DVI is that the link allows graphics to be sent along the link as well. This allows the user interface from the digital receiver to be displayed on the HDTV.

HDCP (High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection): HDCP is the copy protection standard that is tied to DVI.

HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface): HDMI is the next generation of DVI. The main difference between HDMI and DVI 1.0 is that HDMI adds audio to the DVI link and is a smaller connector. The HDMI interface will be backwards compatible to the DVI 1.0 interface, meaning that you can connect a set-top to an HDTV, where one has DVI 1.0 and the other has HDMI. Most new HDTVs have HDMI connections. Those that don't most likely are equipped with DVI, which is backwards compatible.

Aspect ratio: the width of a picture relative to its height.  The most common aspect ratios are 4:3 and 16:9.  The majority of current analog and standard definition transmissions are 4:3. Virtually all high definition transmissions are in 16:9 aspect ratio, which is similar to the aspect ratio of a movie screen.

Each of the numbers - 1080, 720, and 480 - indicates the number of vertical lines of resolution present in a video signal or that a television is capable of displaying. For example, a 1080p video signal has 1080 lines of information from the top to the bottom of the image. The more lines used to describe the image, the clearer and "higher-quality" it is. In the United States, there are three common standards of digital video quality: 1080i/p, 720i/p, and 480i/p."

An HDTV can have as many as 1,080 lines of resolution compared to the 480 active line maximum seen on a traditional analog TV. While a traditional analog TV has a total of about 200,000 pixels, a high definition can have up to 10x as many, or 2 million pixels!

The letters 'i' and 'p' stand for 'interlaced' and 'progressive'.

 Interlaced scanning is a broadcast process used in TV sets in which half the lines are transmitted as one field and the other half is transmitted as the second field.  These two fields are displayed sequentially to form an image.

Progressive scanning is typically used by computer monitors. This scanning process paints all the horizontal scan lines on the screen at one time. Progressive scanning is also used for high definition broadcasts and DVD players.

YES! Unlike many cable companies, WOW! carries HD-DVRs as well as standard DVRs. Many cable companies only offer standard DVRs and customers cannot record and play high definition content with these DVRs. WOW! realizes that customers with HDTV should have the ability to record and playback programs delivered in HD so we offer two types of DVR - one for those customers with HD and one for customers with standard television. High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) is an uncompressed all-digital audio/video interface that gives you an interface between audio/video sources and audio or video monitors.

Yes, the HD receiver does support surround sound through the Digital Audio Output. All audio is digitized out of this output, simplifying the connections to your home theater system.

No. Currently, the program must be produced using HD technology which requires a different filming process than standard definition programs.  Older programs that were produced in standard definition may appear to have better picture quality when shown on a HD channel but they are not considered to be high definition.

Commercials filmed in HD will take up the entire screen while commercials not filmed in HD will display with black bars on the side of the screen.  The black bars appear because a standard definition commercial has a different aspect ratio (4:3) than your HDTV set (16:9).

Yes. Our HD receiver will allow high-definition televisions to display all our cable channels.

Many of the On Demand movies and shows are available in HD. Be sure you have an HD receiver. To see what's available in HD, check out the movies and programs listed under the HD category. WOW! Also offers the HD PPV Event channel.

Depending on the connections offered by your HDTV you may be able to utilize your VCR or DVD player with WOW! HD service. The content quality will be limited by the capabilities of your VCR or DVD player and the content you are using. Consult the owner's manual for your HDTV, VCR or DVD player for more information.

The HD receiver (a Scientific Atlanta 3250HD) does not support an HDTV with RGB inputs unless a separate RGB adapter is used. If your television does not have an alternate method of connecting the HD receiver, you will need to purchase a RGB adapter to utilize the HD signal from the Scientific Atlanta 3250 HD receiver. Programming produced in standard definition is meant to be viewed on a screen that has a 4:3 aspect ratio.  High definition TV sets have an aspect ratio of 16:9 so when a standard definition program is viewed, you will see black bars along the side of the screen to create a viewing areas that is 4:3.  This is similar to watching movies in the letterbox format.  It allows you to view the program without cutting off the edges or stretching the image.

Just press the # key on your remote control to switch between wide-screen and regular-screen formats, depending on the aspect ratio (16:9 or 4:3) of the program you are watching.

1. Check all of your cables to ensure they are securely connected to the correct jacks (colors should match in all cases).
2. Ensure you are NOT using the DVI connection on your HD receiver (this connection is currently not active).
3. Verify you are connected to an input that accepts 1080i content. Some HD sets only display 480 or 720 resolution rates. Consult your TV owner's manual for this information.

Pay-Per-View gives you the ability to watch your favorite Hollywood hit movies, along with exciting events and non-stop sports action, all at the touch of a button on your remote control. By ordering a movie on Pay-Per-View you can avoid the long lines and late fees at the video store and still watch a great movie from the comfort of your couch. You can also order exciting sporting events or concerts on Pay-Per-View.

Yes, Pay-Per-View programming can be recorded with your DVR.

In order to purchase Pay-Per-View events, a digital cable receiver is required.  The Pay-Per-View program can be ordered directly from your remote control.  Sports packages (including ESPN Game Plan) must be ordered by calling 1-866-4WOW-NOW (1-866-496-9669). 

If your account is in Past Due status, you will not be able to order Pay-Per-View movies or events until your account is returned to good standing.

Digital Cable Customers

1. Press the GUIDE button.
2. Press 6-0-0 to get to channel 600 where the PPV channels begin.
3. Use the arrow buttons to view the available PPV programs.
4. Press SELECT, then do one of the following:
   1. If event is scheduled for future broadcast, the Program Guide displays the Future Program Options menu. Follow the instructions on-screen.
   2. If the program is about to be shown, the preview or purchase screen appears with the program information. Press the BLUE SQUARE button to buy the program, and follow the instructions on-screen.

You can order Pay-Per-View in advance by using your on-screen program guide to scroll to the day and time of the movie or event of your choice and ordering the move or event. In order to view the movie or event, tune your television to the appropriate channel at the time of the movie or event. You can also call WOW! at 1-866-496-9669 and have a Customer Care Representative order the movie or event for you. Once you order the movie or event, you will be billed for the purchase, regardless of whether you watch it or not.

If you have ordered a Pay-Per-View movie or event in advance and decide that you no longer want to view that movie or event, simply call WOW! at 1-866-496-9669 to cancel your order. If the movie or event has already started, you cannot cancel your order.

Pay-Per-View ordering can be blocked or restricted using parental controls.  Programming can be blocked by rating, channel number or time of day.  Blocked programming can be viewed only by entering the parental control PIN number.

You can also set a credit limit in your account for PPV and On Demand programming.  Call 1-866-496-9669 to speak with a Customer Care Representative.

The WOW! Basic Cable Parental Control feature allows you to block programs by channel through your WOW! Basic Cable receiver. When you turn the Parental Control feature on, you cannot view blocked programs without entering your Personal Identification Number (PIN).

Setting Parental Controls:

1. Press the MODE button until CABLE indicator is lit.
2. Press the GUIDE button then use the arrow buttons to highlight the channel to lock.
3. Press the LOCK button, and enter your Parental Control PIN (default PIN is 32154).
4. Press the MENU button repeatedly to return to watching TV.
5. Repeat this process to UNLOCK a locked channel.

Watching a Locked Channel:

1. Tune to the locked channel and press the SEL button.
2. Enter your Parental Control PIN (default PIN is 32154). You can now view all locked channels.

Changing your Parental Control PIN:

1. Press the MODE button until CABLE indicator is lit and press MENU.
2. Use the arrow buttons to highlight Parental Control and press SEL.
3. Use the arrow buttons to highlight Change Parental Control Number and press SEL.
4. Enter your current PIN and new PIN per on-screen instructions.
5. Press the MENU button repeatedly to return to watching TV.

The WOW! Digital Cable Parental Control feature allows you to block programs by channel, program rating, or time of day. When you turn the Parental Control feature on, you cannot view blocked programs without entering your Personal Identification Number (PIN).

2. Press the UP or DOWN buttons to highlight Turn OFF/ON Parental Control. (this line of text changes to reflect if Parental Control is currently off or on).
3. Press SELECT button to change the setting to ON or OFF.
4. Enter your Parental Control PIN (default PIN is 3215).

2. At the General Settings menu, press the UP or DOWN buttons to select BLOCK: PIN and press SELECT.

If you have not set a Pay-Per-View PIN, then the default PIN will work on your account. The default PIN for basic cable customers is 32154. For Digital Cable customers, the default PIN is 3215. WOW! OnDemand is our video on demand service that allows WOW! Digital Cable customers the ability to select from hundreds of movies and other programs and watch them when they want. WOW! OnDemand includes a variety of programming including movies, kids’ and family shows, events, music, sports and more.

With WOW! OnDemand, customers enjoy DVD-like functionality to rewind, fast forward and pause programs. If you have WOW! Digital Cable service (a standard WOW! Digital receiver, Digital Video Recorder (DVR), High-Def receiver or HD/DVR receiver) you have access to WOW! OnDemand.

WOW! OnDemand provides customers with greater convenience and flexibility to watch movies when you want. In contrast, Pay-Per-View movies are only available at their scheduled time.  With WOW! OnDemand you can order a movie or program and watch it anytime you want within the next 24 hours (6 hours for adult programming), as many times as you want. In addition, WOW! OnDemand has VCR-like functionality that allows you to stop, rewind, pause and fast forward your OnDemand program. WOW! You can access the WOW! OnDemand Main Menu by turning to Channel 1 in your Digital Cable on-screen guide. Once in the Main Menu, you can scroll through the main categories or move further into a specific category by pressing SELECT on the remote control when that category is highlighted on the Main Menu.

You can also access a number of categories directly from your on-screen guide by tuning to the associated virtual channel if available in your area. When you tune to that channel, you can scroll through that category immediately, or return to the higher-level OnDemand menus.

All WOW! OnDemand programs must be ordered using your remote control and ordering is very simple. Just go to Channel 1 in your Digital Cable on-screen guide to access the WOW! OnDemand Main Menu.

How to Order WOW! OnDemand:

1. Go to channel 001 in your Digital Cable on-screen guide.
2. Use the up/down arrows to highlight your selection from any of the categories listed and press SELECT.
3. Use the up/down arrows to highlight the desired program and press SELECT.
4. For pay content if a free preview is available, press the ‘B’ button to view the preview.
5. Press SELECT to purchase or view the program. If parental controls are activated you may be required to enter your PIN.

For most WOW! OnDemand programs, you have unlimited access to it for 24 hours from the time of order.  Our Disney/Buena Vista new release titles are available for 3 days/72 hours from order, and can be found under "3 Day Movies" in the WOW! OnDemand menu.  Adult OnDemand programming is available for 6 hours from time of purchase.  You may watch your OnDemand selection as many times as you like during the viewing access window.

Customers are not able to record WOW! OnDemand programs to a WOW! DVR. However,unlike pay-per-view movies, WOW! OnDemand programming can be viewed multiple times for up to 24 hours from the time of order (6 hours for adult content).

Previously ordered VOD content can be viewed by tuning to the VOD Main Menu on CHANNEL 1 and following the directions below:

To view previously ordered premium content (HBO, Showetime, etc.):

1. From the MAIN MENU select the section where the original order was placed.
2. Each section has multiple levels to navigate through.  Once the section has been highlighted press SELECT to proceed to the next menu. 
3. Navigate in the menu to SAVED PROGRAMS.
4. Press SELECT on the remote will to display the saved programs
5. Scroll to the program desired and press SELECT. You will see the following options:
   • SELECT to resume the programs
   • B to restart the program.
   • C to go back to the previous screen
6. The movie will restart or continue after the choice has been made. 

 
To view previously purchased content:

1. From the MAIN MENU select the section where the original order was placed.
2. Select the movie previously purchased from the list.
3. Once in the movie screen, press B to restart the program

You can purchase multiple OnDemand shows at any one time. However, since ordering WOW! OnDemand is so simple, it may be more convenient to order shows one at a time. Different family members can order on different televisions at the same time, since WOW! OnDemand programs play only on the television on which they were ordered.

You can block channels or programs using Parental Controls. Press SETTINGS on your WOW! Digital Cable remote control and then enter your PIN to change or adjust parental controls. If you have never used parental controls before, the PIN is set to a default number of 3215.

Any control settings you have previously set on your digital receiver will apply to WOW! OnDemand as well. For example, if you have blocked adult programming on Pay-Per-View, then adult programming will be blocked on your WOW! OnDemand service as well.

Yes. The settings you defined to lock programs by rating will apply to both regular cable channels and WOW! OnDemand. However, blocking Channel 1 will prevent access to the WOW! OnDemand main menu The main menu can still be “backed into” by accessing another of the VOD virtual channels and then pressing the C button to go back a level in the menu to the main menu screen.

WOW! OnDemand offers a wide variety of content including a mix of free, one-time-charge and subscription programs.

Free Categories are WOW! OnDemand programs you can watch without being charged. These include: Kids Unlimited, Music, Cutting Edge, Sports, Health and Lifestyles, TV Entertainment and Signature Exclusives*.

3. Press the 'Yellow Triangle' button.
4. Enter your Parental Control PIN (default is 32154).
5. Repeat these steps 2 and 3 to add additional channels.
6. Press Menu to return to TV.

To View a blocked channel:
1. Tune to the blocked channel.
2. Press Select.
3. Enter your Parental Control PIN (default is 32154).
4. All blocked channels can now be watched until the box is turned off.

To unblock a channel:
1. Press Guide.
2. Use the Arrow keys to highlight the locked channel.
3. Press the 'Yellow Triangle' button.
4. Enter your Parental Control PIN (default is 32154).
5. Repeat steps 2 and 3 to unlock other channels.

 Newer HD television sets have many input options. More than likely, your TV is simply on the wrong input to receive the signal from our cable box. Make sure your WOW! cable box is powered on, and use your TV remote to change inputs (for most HD TVs you will want to be on Component 1 or Component 2).

To correct this, try resetting your cable box by unplugging it from electricity for 1 minute.  After plugging it back in, wait for the time to display before turning the box back on (this may take 2-3 minutes).

The most common problems with picture quality have to do with connection issues.  If the tips below do not solve the quality issue, please contact us at 1-866-496-9669.

• Make sure the wiring to the television set is correct and connections are tight. Connections should be hand tightened. If you are using a cable receiver, the cable coming from wall should be connected to the "IN" jack on the cable box. If you're not using a cable box, the cable coming from the wall should be connected to the "IN" jack on the VCR, DVD player or directly to the TV.
• If you're using a cable receiver, make sure the power is on. Make sure your TV is set to channel 3 or the correct video input. If you have a VCR or DVD player, make sure it is turned off.
• If you are using a cable splitter, check to make sure it is the correct type.

Check the cable connection at the wall and the back of the cable box or TV. If the cable is securely connected and the picture quality does not improve, please contact customer service at 1-866-496-9669.

A digital cable receiver is required on all TVs that you wish to receive premium channels or digital cable channels.  Having a digital cable receiver on your TV set also means you'll have access to other great features including WOW! OnDemand and the on-screen program guide.  You cannot access these features with a WOW! Digital Adapter.

If your remote control stops working, the first thing you should do is replace the batteries with 2 new AA batteries.  Upon replacing the batteries your remote should be restored to its full functionality.  To avoid losing your remote's programmed setting, you must replace the batteries within 2 minutes.

Yes. Using your own CableCARD enabled equipment will result in your being charged discounted rates if you are using that equipment in connection with a qualifying bundled service offer. A CableCARD^TM is a device that consumers who own digital cable ready TVs or other digital cable ready devices can receive from WOW! that allows for the descrambling of digital programming. The card is inserted into the digital cable ready TV and allows the descrambling of the signal. The card works in place of a traditional set top box.

An M-Card is an enhanced version of the Single-Stream CableCARD that WOW! currently deploys.

Multi-Stream CableCARDs are to be used only with multi-stream devices such as the TiVo HD DVR.  Television sets are single-tuner devices and do not require or support M-Cards.  Standard single-stream cards should be used with TV sets.

With one of WOW!s digital receivers on your TV, you will have access to WOW! Digital Programming, our Interactive Program Guide, and access to WOW! On Demand and Pay-Per-View.  With a CableCARD you will have access to WOW! Digital Programming only.  You cannot access these features with a WOW! Digital Adapter.

You can insert either two Single-Stream cards or one Multi-Stream card.  Either option will give you access to the TiVo programming guide, WOW!'s digital programming and a DVR with dual-tuners.  However, you will not have access to WOW!'s interactive programming guide, VOD, PPV or Caller ID to TV.

Yes.  You can lease as many CableCARDs as you need.

Unfortunately, with a CableCARD, you will not have access to WOW!'s interactive program guide, pay-per-view ordering, or Video On Demand.  If you would like to receive these services, you must have a digital receiver or DVR provided by WOW!.

CableCARD devices often use an on-screen guide specific to the manufacturer, which is different from the guide provided by WOW!.  As a result, the program guide may not always match WOW!'s On-Screen Program Guide.  For more information about your on-screen guide's functionality and features, please consult your owner's manual. 

No.  Your TiVo Series 3 HD set-top box does not require the use of CableCARDs; however, you will be limited to receiving local and basic cable channels, ATSC digital over the air channels with an antenna, and analog antenna channels.  You will not be able to access any scrambled digital channels without a CableCARD. 

WOW! technicians will be able to install and activate your CableCARD.  However, all TiVo Series 3 HD installations are handled by TiVo.  If you need help installing your TiVo device, please contact TiVo customer support at 1-877-367-8486, or click here to visit the TiVo support site.

Closed captioning may be turned on or off through your TV or digital receiver.  If you do not have a digital receiver, refer to your TV owner's manual for more information.

If you have a digital receiver, follow the instructions below.  After following these steps, if you find that closed captioning is still appearing on your TV, it has been turned on through your TV set.  Please refer to your TV owner's manual for more information. 

1. Press Settings once to enter the QUICK SETTINGS menu.
2. If Fixed was set for the volume control:
   1. Scroll to CAPTION OFF/ON.
   2. Press the RIGHT ARROWto access the options.
   3. Press SELECTon the desired option.
3. If Variable was set for the volume control:
   1. Scroll to CAPTION OFF/ON/ON WITH MUTE.
   2. Press the RIGHT ARROWto access the options.

WOW!'s parental controls allow you to control the programming that your children can view.  Parental controls can also be used to block the ordering of pay-per-view movies and On Demand content.  You can block programs in four different ways:

• By Channel
• By Rating
• By Time

We cannot provide parental controls if you do not have a digital receiver from WOW!  In many cases, you can remove or skip a specific channel using your TV's settings. Refer to your TV user's manual for more information.

You can use your Parental Controls to block PPV in the same manner that you would block regularly scheduled programming (by channel number, rating or time of day).  Please note that this does not block the ordering of PPV programs; however it will block viewing on that channel.  If you would like to block PPV ordering or set a credit limit for ordering, please contact our Customer Care Center at 1-866-496-9669.

The LOCKED CHANNELS and LOCKED RATINGS lists in the PARENTAL CONTROL menu show which channels and ratings are currently blocked.

Unlocked symbol indicates that the channel is blocked, but Parental Control is disabled

Locked symbol indicates that the channel is blocked and Parental Control is active

Follow the steps below to enable, disable or modify your PIN.

1. Press the SETTINGS button on the remote. The QUICK SETTINGS menu appears.
2. Scroll up or down until ACTIVATE PARENTAL CONTROL is highlighted.
3. Use the RIGHT/LEFT ARROWbuttons to toggle the feature on and off.
4. Enter the Personal Identification Number (PIN)
5. A confirmation message is displayed. Press the A button on the remote.

1. Press the SETTINGS button.
2. Press A for more settings to bring up the GENERAL SETTINGS menu.
3. Use the UP/DOWN ARROWS to find PARENTAL CONTROLS.
4. Press the SELECT button on PARENTAL CONTROL.
5. Use the arrow buttons to highlight how you would like to block programming (LOCKED CHANNELS, LOCKED RATINGS or LOCKED TIME).
6. Press SELECT.
7. Highlight the rating (or channel or time) to be blocked and press SELECT. Ratings with a red lock icon next to them are blocked.
8. Press A to accept.
9. Repeat Steps 5-8 to continue setting up controls.
10. Press the EXIT button.

Follow these steps to block all adult content.  Blocking adult content also disables the VOD menu from displaying any adult content.

1. Press the SETTINGS button.
2. Press A for more settings to bring up the General Settings menu.
3. Use the UP/DOWN ARROWS to find PARENTAL CONTROL.
4. Press the SELECT button on PARENTAL CONTROL.
5. Use the arrow buttons to select HIDE ADULT TITLES.

7. Highlight ENABLE, and press SELECT.

Yes! You can temporarily unblock parental controls for one channel.  When you unblock a channel, it will remain unblocked until you power off the digital receiver.

4. Enter the Parental Control PIN.
5. A confirmation message is displayed. Press A.

You can enable, disable, or change the PIN from the General Settings menu.

2. At the GENERAL SETTINGS menu, use the UP/DOWN ARROWS to highlight BLOCK: PIN, then press SELECT.
3. Use the UP/DOWN ARROWS to highlight Change, then press SELECT.
4. Enter current PIN.
5. Enter new PIN.
6. Re-enter new PIN for confirmation.
7. Press EXIT to return to watching TV.

Blocking and Unblocking Directly from the Channel

1. On the remote, press the SETTINGS button once.
2. Use the UP/DOWN ARROWS to highlight BLOCK THIS CHANNEL or UNBLOCK THIS CHANNEL.
3. Press SELECT.
4. Enter Parental Control PIN

Blocking and Unblocking Channels Using General Settings

1. On the remote, press the SETTINGS button twice.
2. Use the UP/DOWN ARROWS to highlight BLOCK: CHANNELS. Press SELECT.
3. Enter Parental Control PIN (preset PIN is 1234).
4. Use the UP/DOWN ARROWS to highlight each channel to block and press SELECT.
5. Continue highlighting and selecting the channels to block.
6. When all channels to be blocked have a padlock shown, press A to accept.
7. Press EXIT to return to watching TV.

1. On the remote, press the SETTINGS button twice.
2. Use the UP/DOWN ARROWS to highlight BLOCK: RATING. Press SELECT.
3. Enter Parental Control PIN.
4. Use the UP/DOWN ARROWS to highlight the rating to be blocked.
5. Press SELECT to block the highlighted rating, or press the B button to block the rating and all ratings that follow the selected rating in the list on the screen. (Example: Selecting PG-13 and pressing B will block ratings for PG-13, TV-14, TV-MA, R and NC-17 programming)
6. Continue highlighting and selecting ratings to be blocked. 
7. When all ratings to be blocked have a padlock shown, press A to accept.
8. Press EXIT to return to watching TV.

It is possible to block programs in a particular time range, for a single day, range of days or a day of the week (such as every Saturday).  Blocks by time can be set for a maximum of 14 days in the future.

1. On the remote, press the SETTINGS button twice.
2. At the GENERAL SETTINGS menu press the UP/DOWN ARROWS to highlight TIME: NEW. Press SELECT.
3. Enter Parental Control PIN.
4. Use the UP/DOWN ARROWS to highlight the date or day of the week to block, then press SELECT.
5. In the START column, change the time shown to the time for the block to start.
   1. Use the RIGHT/LEFT ARROWS to highlight a setting.
   2. Use the UP/DOWN ARROWS to change each setting.
   3. When the correct start time is shown, press SELECT.
6. In the STOP column, change the time shown to the time for the block to end.
   1. Use the RIGHT/LEFT ARROWS to highlight the setting to change.
   2. Use the UP/DOWN ARROWS to change each setting.
   3. When the correct stop time is shown, press A to accept.
7. Press EXIT to return to watching TV.

WOW! offers access to ESPN Game Plan and ESPN Full Court.  In addition, WOW! On Demand offers free sports programming from havoc, The Speed Channel and Big Ten Networks.

Music Choice allows viewers with Digital Value or Digital Basic Cable service to listen to 46 or more channels of music on their television. The channels, which are categorized by genre, also provide on-screen information such as artist names, song titles, CD titles and cover art.

There are 45 Music Choice channels.

Music Choice does not censor its music.  If a Music Choice channel is uncensored, "(uncensored)" will appear after the channel name in the program guide.  Music Choice channels are rated using the TV ratings (TV-MA, TV-PG, etc) so Music Choice channels can be blocked using the parental control features.
